🇳🇬 Built in Lagos, for Nigeria

We got tired of watching
Nigerians get scammed online.

So we built the marketplace we always wished existed — one where you see the product on video before you pay, negotiate the price yourself, and your money stays locked until it arrives at your door.

Online shopping in Nigeria was broken.

Blurry photos. Fake sellers. WhatsApp groups full of scammers. Buyers paying upfront and getting nothing — or getting something completely different from what they saw. Sellers with no way to reach beyond their 200 contacts.

"I paid ₦35,000 for a TV on Instagram. What arrived was a cardboard box filled with sand. I had no recourse. Nobody was held accountable."

Platforms built with Nigerian buyers and sellers in mind

Trust is a product feature,
not a policy document.

You can't solve trust with terms and conditions. You build it into the transaction itself — with video verification, escrow, and a negotiation system where everyone knows exactly what they're getting.

🎬

See it first, always

If the buyer can see the actual product on video — every angle, every detail — the "it looked different in the photo" problem disappears. What you see is provably what you get.

🔒

Money only moves when trust is earned

Escrow isn't a feature — it's the contract. Neither side can cheat when the money doesn't move until the buyer says they're satisfied. The incentive structure fixes the behaviour.

⚖️

Negotiation is a right, not a luxury

Nigerians negotiate in every market in this country. Online shopping never gave them that. Luuk puts negotiation back in the buyer's hands — built into every single transaction.

From frustration to infrastructure.

How Luuk went from a Abuja apartment to Nigeria's video commerce layer.

💡
Early 2024 — The Idea

The founder gets scammed. Again.

After losing money to a fake Instagram seller for the third time, the question became: why does every Nigerian marketplace look like a digital version of a newspaper classifieds page? Why has nobody solved this? The answer was: nobody had built it for Nigeria — from Nigeria.

⚒️
Mid 2024 — Building

Six months. No sleep. One mission.

A small team assembled in Abuja, FCT. The brief was simple: build a marketplace where no buyer ever gets scammed and no honest seller ever gets cheated. Video-first feed. Escrow by default. Negotiation built in. Every feature shipped with that test in mind.

🚀
Late 2024 — First Launch

First 500 sellers. First ₦1M transacted.

Luuk opened to a private beta. Sellers who had been doing ₦50k a month on WhatsApp were clearing ₦200k+ on Luuk within weeks. The reason was simple: the algorithm put their products in front of buyers who actually wanted them. For the first time, sellers weren't begging for attention — buyers were coming to them.

📈
2025 — The Weekend Effect

Weekend sales changed everything.

When Luuk launched platform-wide weekend deals, transaction volume spiked 300% in a single Saturday. Sellers started planning their whole week around the weekend drop. Buyers started marking their calendars. A marketplace habit was forming — and the numbers kept growing.

🇳🇬
2026 — Today

Nigeria's video commerce layer. Growing fast.

Luuk now operates across Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, and Enugu. Thousands of sellers. Hundreds of thousands of products listed. Millions of naira transacted safely every month. And we're just getting started — every city in Nigeria deserves a marketplace that works for them.

The numbers that keep us moving.

Every metric below represents a Nigerian buyer who didn't get scammed, or a seller who earned money they actually deserved.

Four principles we refuse to compromise.

These aren't wall decorations. They're the filter every product decision passes through before it ships.

🔍

Radical Transparency

We don't hide fees, bury terms, or obscure how our algorithm works. Every seller sees exactly why their video ranked where it did. Every buyer sees exactly where their money is at every step of the transaction.

Speed as Respect

Slow platforms waste people's time. In Nigeria, where data is expensive and attention is precious, speed isn't a nice-to-have — it's a sign of respect. We ship fast. We pay out fast. We resolve disputes fast.

⚖️

Fair by Design

Fairness can't be a complaint department. It has to be baked into how the system works. Escrow is fair by design. Negotiation is fair by design. A dispute team that actually reads both sides is fair by design.

🇳🇬

Nigerian-First Thinking

This isn't a Western product retrofitted for Nigeria. Every feature starts from a Nigerian reality — low trust, high hustle, variable internet, market culture, and an economy that runs on personal relationships. We build for that.

Built by people who live this problem.

Every person on this team has been on both sides of the marketplace experience in Nigeria. That frustration is our fuel.
